Chiqui

Directed by Carlos Cardona

United States | 30 minutes | 2022

It's 1987. Chiqui and Carlos emigrate from Colombia to New Jersey in hopes of improving circumstances for themselves and their unborn son. Upon their arrival, they quickly realize that the American dream is not what they expected.

Chiqui and Carlos arrive in Newark, New Jersey. The series explores the couple's tense dynamic as they embark on a new chapter of their life. It also explores their dreams and aspirations, as Chiqui and Carlos reveal their differences while they navigate a strange country. The narrative goes back and forth between their origin story in Colombia and their present struggles as they carve out a place for themselves in the United States.
