Hope, Soledad

Directed by Yolanda Cruz

USA, Mexico | 79 min | 2021

Two women meet along a traditional pilgrimage in Oaxaca, Mexico, a journey that will show them the power of self-discovery and empathy in the path of healing.

Two women, Hope and Soledad, meet on a pilgrimage to the rural town of Juquila in Oaxaca, Mexico. Hope, a college student, finds herself in her mother's homeland after being displaced from her home in California. Soledad, on the other hand, tries to free herself from her deceased lover, and to end her marriage with her husband who lives in the U.S.

Together, they walk in communion with pilgrims as they deal with their struggles and discover the power of self-discovery, empathy and understanding in their search for a path for healing.
