#GermPod Squad Vlog: Episode 1

In this first episode, we ride along with Layel and Favianna as we catch a glimpse into how they manage interpersonal relationships with each other and with other close friends outside of their #GermPod. Layel visits the Farmers Market with a friend and they discuss whether they can visit with each other without wearing masks, and Favianna tackles the biggest public works art project of her career as an artist. They both reflect on the difficulties they've encountered navigating and maintaining relationships while being responsible during this time of the pandemic. THE ARTISTS:

Favianna Rodriguez is the co-founder and President of The Center for Cultural Power. She is an award-winning artist, cultural strategist, and social movement leader. Favianna’s art and praxis address migration, economic inequality, gender justice, and climate change, boldly reshaping the myths, ideas, and cultural practices of the present, while confronting the wounds of the past. Favianna also helps lead cultural strategy design and investment by helping to organize the philanthropic sector.

Layel Camargo is a cultural strategist, land steward, filmmaker and artist, is a descendent of the Yaqui tribe and Mayo tribes of the Sonoran Desert. Layel is transgender and non binary. Layel was the Impact Producer for “The North Pole Show” season two with Executive Producer Rosario Dawson. They currently produce and host "Did We Go Too Far", a podcast with an ecological justice organization, Movement Generation. At The Center for Cultural Power they are the Ecological Arts and Culture Manager, and co-creator of "Climate Woke" a national campaign to center BIPOC voices in climate justice.
