The 22nd edition of the Los Angeles Latino International Film Festival (LALIFF) kicks off Wednesday with a special screening of Eva Longoria’s Flamin’ Hot—you know, the Hot Cheetos movie. While the festival promises plenty of big blockbuster hits —Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse and Julio Torres’ Problemista, plus TV shows Primo and With Love— there’s also more arthouse fare for those looking for something off the beaten path.

Vela Wang, a 23-year-old graphic designer possessing an astounding talent, resides in the heart of Los Angeles. Born in China, her ambition carried her across continents, fuelling a desire to make a distinct mark in the arts, film, and design landscapes.

Taking on prestigious platforms, Vela worked with Netflix and ARRI on the film ‘Pedacito De Carne.’ Her gripping poster design was showcased at the ‘Narrative Short Film Incubator for Women of Color’ and the 2023 LALIFF.

Fuse Media is partnering with the Los Angeles Latino International Film Festival (LALIFF) which will provide viewers of its FAST channel Latino Vibes with exclusive access to premium Latino content. The partnership is anchored by the launch of the monthly programming block “LALIFF Presents” on Latino Vibes.

LALIFF kicks off with the West Coast premiere of the highly anticipated “Flamin’ Hot,” the story of the man behind Flamin’ Hot Cheetos, and followed by a gala. The festival will be jam-packed with workshops, masterclasses, panels and screenings.

“28% of ticket buyers at the box office are Latino. Your film will not succeed if you don’t have the Latino audience,” she said.

There’s no question that el movimiento has gained serious traction in recent years. Amazon Music is recognizing Latine music’s global expansion and celebrating it with the launch of their “Hip-Hop X Siempre” campaign, which includes a documentary focusing on Latine hip-hop.

LatinX in Animation (LXiA) announced its animation programming for the 22nd edition of the Los Angeles Latino International Film Festival (LALIFF). This year’s animation program is back and better than ever as LXiA’s events will be embedded throughout the entirety of LALIFF, both in-person and virtually.

The indie feature is a screen adaptation of Latino Theater Company's highly acclaimed stage play Dementia.

The festival is five days of screenings, live music, panels, and networking opportunities, celebrating the diversity and talent of the Latino/a artists and storytellers from our community. This year’s lineup features 44 females (representing over 50% of the program), 13 Afro/Black Latino, nine Indigenous, and 16 LGBTQ+ directors, with 19 different countries represented.
