A Miami story told through the eyes of a multi-generational family whose problematic nature, hope for togetherness and dreams of success culminate on the night they risk it all and play to win the grand-prize Powerball.
"Arroz, Leche y Powerball" is the pilot episode of the proposed series Livin' Con Los Cabo. It follows la Familia Cabo - a dysfunctional, multi-generational, Cuban American family whose problematic nature, hope for togetherness and dreams of success drive their struggles and triumphs.
Over the course of a night, they decide to play the Powerball and take their chance at winning the grand-prize in hopes to better their lives. After overcoming unforeseen obstacles and dealing with their habitual family conflicts, they soon learn the real prize lies within them.
Mariana Serrano is a first generation Peruvian-American writer/director based in Miami, FL. Her primary focus is exploring the human condition as it pertains to connection while working from a female-focused lens, and by crafting complex characters that amplify underrepresented voices within her narratives.
