Academy Award®-nominated actor Edward James Olmos, founder of the Latino Film Institute, announced today that the Los Angeles Latino International Film Festival (LALIFF) will host a virtual festival for the 2021 edition that will run Wednesday, June 2 through Sunday, June 6.
Disney Original Documentary's Mija directed by Isabel Castrol to open the festival and Warner Bros. Pictures' and HBO Max's Father of the Bride directed by Gas Alazraki will close the festival. Tickets now on sale!
Academy Award®-nominated actor Edward James Olmos, founder of the Latino Film Institute, announced today that LALIFF will host a Special Preview Screening of Warner Bros. Pictures’ upcoming In the Heights, the highly-anticipated film adaptation of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s hit Broadway musical from director Jon M. Chu, on Friday June 4th 2021. In addition, LALIFF and the Tribeca Festival will partner as a celebration of their 20th anniversaries.
Award-winning filmmaker Lorena Durán; writer and director Justin Floyd; award-winning filmmaker Kase Peña; director Monica Suriyage and artist, director Tamara Shogaolu are the inaugural fellows.
Five visionary Afro Latino directors will receive a production grant and premiere their films at LALIFF 2021. Netflix to sponsor in this inaugural year.
