Bios: Film Composing and the Push for Diversity

George Shaw
's range of work covers 17 feature films, including Baby Steps, produced by Oscar-nominated Li-Kong Hsu. George worked with Marvel Comics legend Stan Lee, to pen the song “Ode to Geeks,” celebrating Lee’s Lifetime Achievement Award at the inaugural Geekie Awards, which George music directed from 2013-2015. He also scored YouTube Original’s longest running show Escape the Night and created the viral hit Star Wars Musical. He was selected to the Universal Film Composer Initiative in 2019, the first Hollywood studio program to nurture diverse voices in composing.


Tony Morales
is an EMMY-nominated Mexican-American composer known for his sweeping symphonic scores and textural sound for feature films and television. His orchestral compositions range from dramas and crime thrillers to documentaries, comedies, and animation. His dramatic offerings include countless hours of music for television and shows such as the Netflix Original Series "Bloodline" and the CBS procedural drama "Scorpion". His latest project, the
action thriller The Fugitive starring Kiefer Sutherland, is a remake of the classic 1960’s series.


Dara Taylor
has emerged as a fresh voice in the world of scoring music to picture as evidenced by her score to the upcoming Lionsgate comedy Barb and Star Go To Vista Del Mar, co-composed with Christopher Lennertz. Her credits include the action crime drama Echo Boomers, the Netflix series "Bookmarks", the Netflix docuseries "Trial By Media", the independent film Turner Risk, and the Karen Allen-starred film Colewell, for which she won a 2019 Hollywood Music in Media award.

Jongnic “JB” Bontemps is a uniquely modern film composer, harmonizing a classical education with his rich tech background. His credits include the hip-hop infused score for the Tribeca-favorite documentary United Skates, to rousing additional music for the acclaimed film Creed II. He became the go-to composer for Caple Jr. while scoring his coming-of-age drama The Land, for which he also orchestrated the song “This Bitter Land”. Most recently, JB crafted an impactful and deeply personal score for the documentary film My Name is Pauli Murray. The film recently had its world premiere at the 2021 Sundance Film Festival.


David ('Dah - veed')
Murillo R. is an award-winning Colombian film composer and music producer. His composing work spans a wide variety of styles ranging from 2016 Sundance multi-award winning Between Sea and Land, to the sibling rivalry coming-of-age story Blast Beat also an official Sundance selection in 2020.  In less than a year of working alongside singer/songwriters, his producing and composing credits have amassed over 80 Million streams on Spotify and 55 Million views on YouTube.
