A 2D animated short film reclaiming a Spanish slur to empower Latinx women by retelling the story of La Malinche.
When Mari, a mixed Mexican High School girl, goes on a field trip to the Museo de Antropología, she finds her voice upon learning the story of La Malinche in order to stop the racist bullying of her classmate.
Flora Rees-Arredondo is a Visual Development Artist in animation, specializing in background painting and background design. Rees-Arredondo was a Production Intern at Cartoon Network on Victor and Valentino, she directed the award-winning 2D animated short film "Malinchista," and she is working as an Art Director in games. Rees-Arredondo spends her free time creating artwork and content that supports unheard voices in order to create a positive impact on society.
