Submissions to the 21st Edition of LALIFF Are Now Open!

We invite all Latinx artists to participate in LALIFF 2022 by submitting their work for consideration.

Submissions are open in the following categories:

U.S. Feature Films:
Any fiction film, documentary or animation in any genre made by Latino filmmakers in the United States with a total running time of more than 50 minutes are eligible for feature submission. World premiere must have occurred no earlier than January 1, 2021, and we will NOT be accepting feature films that have had commercial, theatrical, television or internet distribution in the United States.

U.S. & International Short Films:
Any fiction film, documentary or animation in any genre made by Latino filmmakers (in the U.S, Latin America and the diaspora) with a total running time of less than 50 minutes. World premiere must have occurred no earlier than January 1, 2021, and we will NOT be accepting feature films that have had commercial, theatrical, television or internet distribution in the United States.

U.S. & International Episodics:
Scripted or non-scripted series in any genre made by Latino filmmakers. Applicants may submit single or multiple episodes of the same project, provided that the total running time does not exceed 180 minutes, including credits.

Multiple episodes should be submitted as one continuous video file. Individual episodes may not exceed 60 minutes in length. Open submissions in this category are not eligible for the Festival if the submitted content has been made available to the general public via any platform (broadcast television, Blu-ray, DVD, streaming, VOD, etc.). Projects originating from outside of the U.S. are still eligible provided that the content has only been released within their country of origin. If the submitted content is a continuation of an existing series, only new episodes are eligible for open submission to the Festival.

U.S. & International New Media, Interactive and Video Games:
Eligible projects include but are not limited to virtual reality, 360º films, augmented reality, web projects, multi-media installations and multi-platform projects, as well as games that are created for web, console, virtual reality, augmented reality, and video games. Projects must have an interactive element. Linear or 2D film will not be accepted at this time.

Our submission deadlines are:

  • Early Submission Deadline: January 16, 2022
  • Regular Submission Deadline: February 13, 2022
  • Late Submission Deadline: March 13, 2022
