Esmeralda
Directed by Sabrina Ehlert
USA | 8 min | 2022
Esmeralda, an observant dry cleaner by day and amateur sleuth by night, suspects that one of her customers could be involved in a local arson case. She has 24 hours to uncover the truth.
Esmeralda is a unique and quirky woman who works as a dry cleaner, and who has an undeniable talent for investigating crimes. Throughout this episode, Esmeralda navigates an arson case involving a mysteriously burnt down church, a case where she suspects three of her own customers.
One by one, she interviews her top suspects to find their motives: Local realtor Susan Verde, Pastor Roland, and Land man John Guerra. Getting as far, as inspecting their dirty laundry - literally.
Sabrina Ehlert is a versatile filmmaker with an MFA in film and television production from USC and a BS in business marketing. She applies her knowledge in marketing strategy and media development to create entertaining content that has a lasting impact.
In 2021, Sabrina was chosen as a PGA Create Fellow. She is the Co-Writer, Producer, and Director of an original story chosen for The Short Film Project, with mentorship from Paul Feig and Laura Fischer's Powderkeg Media and sponsorship from Google and the Producers Guild of America.
